KATE BENTLEY
Submitted by kate bentley on Sun, 01/01/2012 - 13:22Kate originally trained in sculpture, graduated from Sheffield in 1986. She then followed a career in theatre-design and as a freelance designer.
In the 1990s Kate made a shift to painting as her primary media and in 1999 made the decision to paint on a full-time basis.
. As well as exhibiting her work in a number of smaller galleries throughout the country Kate’s work has shown in a number of larger respected venues including The Royal Institute of Watercolour Artists, The Royal Watercolour Society, The Affordable Arts Fair, The Lakes Artists Society The Royal Birmingham Society of Arts and The Society of Women Artists
Kate’s awards include:
2010 – The Rheged Award – The Lakes Artists Society.
2008 – The Winsor and Newton Choice Award – The Society of Women Artists
2005 – Portrait Award- Granada TV. Finalist-for TV programme “A Brush with Fame”
Kate also lectures in adult education and demonstrates to art societies. She runs private painting courses in the Lake District ,north Lancashire and Europe
